The couple are senior immigrants living in county-owned apartment community on a very limited budget. New parts for their otherwise useful device–all classic chrome and leather-look vinyl–would have retailed for more than $85. However, we were able to provide them with the correct bits off of a similar (but much rougher!) chair that had been donated by a supporter.

These Fairfax County neighbors got their wheelchair fixed, they paid nothing for the recycled parts for the repair, and hardware was kept out of our waste stream. Definitely a win for all involved, possible only thanks to supporter contributions to WheelCare.Health.
