WheelCare.Health Executive Director Kirk Knestis was invited to contribute to an episode of Danny van Leeuwen’s Health Hats podcast, examining power dynamics and priorities among stakeholders in community program evaluation research.
Lacy Fabian of Make it Matter Human Services Program Consulting & Resources shared ideas that Kirk is only beginning to understand in his new role managing WheelCare.Health’s programs. Kirk explored issues relating to reporting and research design, particularly as decreases in federal funding for community-centered programming might pose both challenges and opportunities for project managers and stakeholders.
Conversation considered issues like cost burdens, as money that might pay for delivery of grant-funded services like community health interventions is used instead to evaluate and report on program activities to grantors. Very interesting question were raised here for program managers, funders, and evaluators engaged in studying program delivery and impact!
